Ann LaRocca Dies At 97

Antoinette “Ann” LaRocca of Eastport died at Westhampton Care Center on Wednesday, October 12. She was 97.

Ms. LaRocca was born on June 22, 1914 in Brooklyn. With her mother’s family having settled in the Moriches area in the early 1900s, she eventually moved east. She was a self-taught artist and played guitar all her life. Ms. LaRocca was an excellent cook and had an incredible sense of family, survivors said. Ms. LaRocca always had a smile or laugh for everyone who was in her company.

She is survived by sons, Richard and Robert LaRocca; grandchildren, Mark, Richard, Beth, Jimmy, Judy and Yvonne; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jenna, Champ, Joey, Ian, Gabriella, Morgan, Justin and Jasmine. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, 45 years ago; and a sister, Gloria Anthony.

Visitation was held at Sinnicksons Moriches Funeral Home in Center Moriches on Thursday, October 13. A funeral Mass was held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Center Moriches on Friday, October 14. Interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of December 12

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. He was pulled over after being observed speeding and failing to maintain his lane on Montauk Highway, police said.
