Anna Marie Jones
Anna Marie Jones, a lifelong resident of Sag Harbor, died on July 4, surrounded by her children. She was 93.
Mrs. Jones loved living in Sag Harbor Village and the good times entertaining family and friends, survivors said. She was known for her great cooking and her family always appreciated her fun desserts such as ice-box cake, banana fritters, and strawberry-marshmallow dessert. Long Beach was her favorite swimming spot, and tending her garden a favorite pastime. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Jones was the only child of Bill and Hattie Trimpin; her father was a local plumber, former Sag Harbor Village Trustee for 16 years and mayor for the five years prior to his death. She married the late Claude Jones of Sag Harbor in 1941; he was a police officer in Sag Harbor followed by 26 years as Southampton Town Clerk.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Jones was predeceased by a daughter, Claudette, who died in 1980. She is survived by three children, Corinne and Cindy Jones, both of Sag Harbor, and Bill of Hampton Bays. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Stephen and Michelle Harrington, Kevin and Donna Miller, and Delaney Jones; two great-grandchildren; Shane and Kiarra; a daughter-in-law, Pam Jackson Jones; and Corinne’s partner, Michael Reilly.
A private funeral Mass and burial was held on Saturday, July 7. Memorial donations may be made to Sag Harbor Ambulance Corps, Box 2725, Sag Harbor, NY 11963.
