Anne C. Stevens of Riverhead, and formerly of Westhampton Beach, died on November 16, in the comfort of her home. She was 72.
Born on April 5, 1953, to Robert and Margaret Stevens of Westhampton Beach, she was the fourth of nine children in a loving home and a wonderful, small, tight-knit community. She graduated from Westhampton Beach High School and went on to SUNY Fredonia, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in library science.
Spending most of her adult life in Riverhead, she worked for what started as New York Telephone, and finished as Verizon, as a central office technician.
She was involved in local choir groups on the North and South Forks and sang with her friends at the First Congressional Church. An avid reader, animal and music lover, she will be missed by many.
She is survived by her two sons, James and Christopher of Riverhead; her grandson Emmitt; and her eight siblings. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Yoda.
Services will be private, and under the direction of the McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East End Hospice (eeh.org) or the food pantry and Pastor Sean at First Congressional Church in Riverhead (firstcongregationalchurchofriverhead.org).
