Anne Bernagozzi of Southampton died on December 20, 2016, at Stony Brook University Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was 77.
Born and raised in the Bronx, was the oldest of four siblings. She moved to Southampton in 1969. She retired from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department where, for most of her career, she was the administrator of the DWI facility in Yaphank. She was active in the Red Hat Society.
Survivors said she loved the beach and gardening, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. They will remember her for her determination, strength of character, and generosity, traits they believe will be carried on by her granddaughters.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Bernagozzi. She is survived by four children, Jeff Hohner, Tina Hohner, Ellen Bernagozzi and Peter Bernagozzi; a stepdaughter, Diane Bernagozzi; seven grandaughters, Katya, Marissa, Kassidy, Kaylee, Eiren, Gemma and Lia; and three siblings.
