Anne Marie Lomaga of Speonk died at the Peconic Bay Medical Center on Tuesday, September 30. She was 85.
Born on May 27, 1913, in Center Moriches, she lived most of her life on the Springwater Duck Farm in Speonk.
She attended Eastport schools and in 1931 married Frank Lomaga, whom she met at a church dance. Mr. Lomaga eventually left his job at Southold Savings Bank to help run the duck farm.
As a young girl, she enjoyed ice skating on East Pond in Eastport and playing basketball. She also modeled at Sweezy Newins Department Store.
Later in life, she was an avid gardener and, according to loved ones, became an excellent cook and was known for her ethnic dishes and the birthday cakes she made for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lomaga is survived by three daughters, Marianne Federico and her husband Bruce of Remsenburg, Evelyn Stachnik and her husband Michael, and Jane A. Lomaga; a sister, Josephine Mackno; two sisters-in-law, Olga and Mary Lomaga; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and close friends Stella Dobrie and Mary Swerdzewski.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Frank Lomaga.
A wake was held at the Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach on October 2. A funeral service was held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Quiogue on October 3; interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
