Annette Friedman
Annette Friedman died at her home in East Quogue on September 19. She was 91.
Born in Praque, Slovokia, Anna Sivacek came to America at age 9 with her sisters, Elizabeth and Susan, during the Great Depression.
Living in Manhattan, she blossomed into an aspiring actress and fashion model, with her stunning Rita Hayworth looks, survivors said. After briefly appearing in a few theatrical productions and leading a glamorous lifestyle, she married Lionel Friedman and became a mother and housewife. She met Mr. Friedman, to whom she was married for 35 years, while working at a special event promotion at Belmont Park Raceway. Mr. Friedman died in 1989, at age 69.
Ms. Friedman, always fashionable and elegant while being enthusiastic, generous, and empathetic, suffered increasing ambulatory problems in the last decade. For the past two years, she was bedridden with 24-hour home care and, most recently, under the care of East End Hospice. She was an avid reader and generous donor to the Republican Party and causes, and was the oldest living member of the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she was active for 80 years. She is survived by her son, Richard, of Southampton and the founder of ArtHamptons, and his fiancée, Cindy Lou Wakefield.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
