Annette P. Petersen
Annette P. Petersen of Westhampton Beach died on September 22. She was 92.
Born in Manhattan on August 31, 1918, she moved with her family to Germany at the age of 3. She went to school in Berlin and subsequently worked for the American military. During the 1950s, she moved back to the United States and started working for the chief executive officer of Rheingold Beer Distributors, and traveled extensively as part of her job.
Years later, she worked at the Riverhead Nursing Home until she retired. She also volunteered for East End Hospice and the Dominican Sisters and was an active member of the Westhampton Presbyterian Church, often volunteering at rummage sales and attending the Presbyterian Women’s Club meetings.
According to family members, Ms. Petersen loved her bird, Fergie, dearly. She also enjoyed swimming in her pool, making crafts, gardening and was very proud of her home.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret Kieffer of Florida; two nephews, Alexl and his wife, Daria; and Jeffry , all of New York City; a grandnephew, Aleksander of Manhattan and Washington, D.C.; good friends and caretakers Renate and George Endres, Jeanne Lewin and the Reverend Diarmuid McGann.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, October 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Follett Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 2, at 1 p.m., at the Westhampton Presbyterian Church on Meeting House Road in Westhampton Beach. A reception will follow at 8 Heather Drive in Remsenburg. Ashes will be interred during a memorial ceremony to be held at a later date.
