The Noyac Civic Council would like to recognize the outstanding public service of Cynthia Ward Capalbo and her team of volunteers, called the Sag Harbor Helpers [“Sag Harbor Volunteers Cook A Little Extra In A Time Of Need,” 27east.com, April 11]. This organization delivers meals to our elderly population who have a hard time doing online or phone food orders and are advised to stay home for obvious reasons.
Cindy established the idea of soliciting aid in the form of donations to purchase food, and she found volunteers to cook meals and deliver them to local seniors. These meals are prepared Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays by a group of about 25 volunteers. Cindy reimburses the cooks with the donations she receives.
This service is a blessing to our seniors, and we are grateful to Cindy for developing this sense of community that Sag Harbor needed.
If you know of elderly residents who wish to be signed up, you can get their names, delivery address, phone numbers and any dietary restrictions that they may have, and email or text this info to Cindy Ward Capalbo. She takes it from there! You may reach Cindy at email@example.com or text her at 631-926-2277.
For additional questions about this and other food delivery services available in the Noyac /Sag Harbor area, you can reach out to our Noyac Civic Council Trustee Sharon Bakes. Sharon can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or text 917-509-6189. Visit the Facebook page “Sag Harbor Helpers.”
Thank you, Cindy, Sharon and the many volunteers who are a part of the Sag Harbor Helpers. You saw a need and answered the call.
Many thanks to our local medical professionals, volunteer ambulance members, policemen, volunteer firemen and other first responders who are working tirelessly to help all of us. Bravo!
