Not three hours after they responded to a stabbing in Riverside on Thursday, June 25, Southampton Town Police were called to a second, and unrelated, assault in Flanders.
Demoy Ashwood, 28, of Flanders, was arrested by Town Police at approximately 7:15 p.m. near Priscilla Avenue, and charged with second degree assault, a felony, along second degree menacing and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, all misdemeanors.
Police said Mr. Ashwood assaulted a male victim with a stick, injuring him. He then threatened the victim with a knife, police said, before fleeing the scene.
The department’s detective division, along with a Southampton Village Police K9 unit, found Mr. Ashwood nearby.
Second degree assault is punishable by up to seven years in state prison.
