Arthur G. Seaman Dies At Age 99

Arthur G. Seaman

Arthur G. Seaman, formerly of Manorville and Merritt Island, Florida, died on December 30 at the home of his daughter, Janice Moffat, while waiting to move in with his granddaughter, Elaine Downs of East Quogue. He was 99.

For many years, Mr. Seaman was a farmer in Manorville. He grew potatoes in the spring 
and early summer and cauliflower in the late summer and fall. Upon the sale of his farm, he went to work for Grumman in Calverton and worked there for 22 years.

Mr. Seaman was predeceased by his wife, Thelma M. (neé Courtenay) to whom he was married for 66 years. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Seaman and his wife Joann of North Carolina; daughters, Janice Y. Moffat and her husband William of North Carolina, and Joyce Hettrick and her husband Samuel of Florida; and five grandchildren, Elaine Downs, Michael and John Seaman, Dawn Hettrick and William Alexander; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandaughter.

Cremation was at Mt. Pleasant Crematory in Center Moriches on Monday, January 3. A memorial service is set for Saturday, January 8, at 2 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints on Mill Road in Riverhead. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
