At a Standstill

I am wondering what is being done to correct the cyber attack on Suffolk County records. I haven’t heard any news from Steve Bellone how the county is dealing with this crisis. The only updates that I have heard are how the county officials are “getting” extra assistance with processing information, and how people can protect their personal information.

It has been almost 20 days since this has occurred, and it has affected so many people, including myself — trying to close on a home and selling a home, unable to get title information. The longer this goes on, the more costs to our county and to our community to deal with a backlog of information that needs to be imported.

Our county has come to a standstill, and I don’t understand why action to correct this isn’t a priority to keep our county functioning, for our community.

Somehow, “the people” who pay taxes to support the county aren’t being updated and informed on the situation. I may have to pay “penalties” at closing because I couldn’t obtain the records for the closing date on a home.

I am sure I am not the only one. Just pay the ransom and invest money to secure our computer system.
