Audrey F. Schug Of Hampton Bays Dies November 27

Audrey F. Schug died on November 27 at her home in Hampton Bays after a brief illness. She was 82 years old and one of the first polio victims on eastern Long Island when she was a year old.

She and her husband of 62 years, Mathias J. Schug, were co-owners of Bangstons Fuel in Hampton Bays, which was founded by her parents after 
her father’s return from World War I.

Ms. Schug was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Church of St. Rosalie. She also was one of the founders of the Southampton Town Republican Women, a member of the Ladies Elks Lodge No. 1574 and a 
member and volunteer of the Hampton Bays Public Library. Two of her favorite passions were knitting and playing bridge.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dan Aube; five grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher, Patrick, Corrine and Sean Aube; and eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends, including a sister, Lois Gregor. She was predeceased by a brother, George Bangston.

Funeral services were held at the R. J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on November 30. Interment was at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Southampton.

Memorial donations may be made to the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation, 5 Channel Drive, Port Washington, NY 11050.
