Thanks for exposing the scourge of gas-powered leaf blowers in the lead editorial last week [“A Place To Start,” Editorial, September 2]. It turns out that, beyond the noxious noise, they are among our worst polluters. A comprehensive regional ban would so beneficial for the East End.
After dodging several hurricanes this summer, we are clearly vulnerable to the coming ravages of climate change. It’s past time to end fossil fuel emissions and turn to clean, renewable energy sources.
You also have to wonder why all the new state-of-the-art, multimillion-dollar homes here aren’t required to build in solar power to reduce the stress on our overworked power grid.
