Barbara C. Miller of Hampton Bays died at the Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Southampton on June 2. She was 91.
Ms. Miller was born in 1923 to Fannie and Walter Carr in Chappaqua, where she was raised and attended Horace Greeley High School. She later graduated from the Southampton School of Nursing as a registered nurse in Southampton, where she also met and married Robert Miller. She put her nursing skills to work at Southampton Hospital and later at the Todd Nursing Home. After retiring, she volunteered at the Hampton Bays Public Library, where she enjoyed working with patrons, staff and other volunteers. Her other interests included reading, knitting, puzzle-solving and rooting for the New York Giants and the Michigan Wolverines.
Ms. Miller is survived by three children, B. Ann McCabe and husband James of Southampton, Robert V. Miller of Sag Harbor, and Walter S. Miller and wife Kerry, also of Sag Harbor; grandchildren, Meredith Muller and husband Keith of Floral Park, Kevin Miller of Sag Harbor, Donna Miller of Sag Harbor, and Robert Miller of Arkansas; and great-granddaughter, Kiara Fuentes of Sag Harbor. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Miller in 1980; and by a grandson, James Scott McCabe, in 2001.
A private burial service took place on June 5 at the Southampton Cemetery.
