Bertha Christine Clay
Bertha Christine Clay, a longtime resident of Speonk died at home Wednesday, August 3. She was 98.
Ms. Clay was born in the town of Williamstown, Vermont, on April 20, 1913. She was raised in Barre, Vermont.
Married in 1932 to Floyd Wright they had one son, Warren Wilbur Wright. After Mr. Wright’s sudden death, Ms. Clay trained as a nurse at Evangeline Booth Maternity Hospital in Boston.
Ms. Clay first worked at the Philadelphia Booth Memorial Hospital in Buffalo and then entered the Salvation Army School for Officers Training in the Bronx.
In 1949, she married Abraham Clay.
Ms. Clay will be greatly missed and touched the lives of many people, survivors said.
She is survived by many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Mr. Clay, and her son Warren.
