Betty Bourassa Dies At 71

Betty Bourassa

Frances Elizabeth Bourassa of Eastport died at Peconic Bay Medical Center on Thursday, October 27, after a battle with cancer of the esophagus. She was 71.

Known as “Betty,” she was born on January 31, 1940, in Marblehead, Massachusetts, the daughter of Tom and Helen Schramm. From 1958 to 1964 she served with the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller. Later she worked at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton as a controller and then for the U.S. Postal service in Remsenburg.

She is survived by her husband Frank; her children, Cindy and Frank Bourassa Jr. of Eastport; and a brother David of Massachusetts.

Ms. Bourassa donated her body to the Department of Anatomical Sciences at Stony Brook University.
