Southampton native Betty Holden Nugent of Port St. Lucie, Florida, died on February 11 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida. She was 86.
Born and raised in Southampton, she was a homemaker and helped her husband William Nugent, DDS, with his dental practice on Hill Street in Southampton for many years. She was a member Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Chuch in Southampton and, according to her daughter Lucinda Maddock, she could knit, beautifully.
She is survived by her husband, William Nugent of Florida; two daughters, Lucinda Maddock of Patchogue and Patricia Ljungquist of Florida; two sons, William Nugent of Pennsylvania and Thomas Nugent of Germany; a sister, Nancy Fleming of Florida; two brothers, John Holden of Southampton and James Holden of Arizona; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date.
