Beverly A. Price of Southampton died peacefully on February 15 at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital after a very brief illness. She was 90.
Born in New Rochelle, New York, on May 6, 1932, to Rudolph and Emma Anderson, Beverly (known as “Bev” to friends and family) lived in New Rochelle until moving to Water Mill in the fall of 1949 to spend her senior year at Southampton High School.
She lived with family friends Gwen and Charlie Halsey to help with their three small daughters, who just happened to be Harry Price’s nieces. Coincidence? No, he was already smitten from prior meetings as their mothers were long-time friends. They married on November 22, 1952, and enjoyed 67 years of marriage until he died in 2020.
The family will always remember her with her needle and thread. When not keeping her children and grandchildren’s clothes mended or altered to fit, she was quilting, knitting or doing other needle work.
A fantastic cook, her family said, she was never happier then when surrounded by family at the table. She was also an avid reader of books of all kinds, and also sketching pen and inks in her younger years.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Harry; grandson Sam; and sister Laura Geiger. She is survived by her son Robert and daughter-in-law Susan; son David and daughter-in-law Marina; daughter Karen Price; grandson Thomas; granddaughter Madeline and her finance, Michael Jansen; nieces Jane Halsey, Mary Gwen Tyda, Susan Halsey-Swanson, Janice Geiger; nephew Edward Price; and cousin George Ingham.
A funeral service was held on February 19.
