Now that the Bel-Aire Cove Motel/Community Preservation Fund fiasco has been resolved, I have another suggestion for how to spend more CPF money (that’s just sitting there) to benefit Southampton Town residents: Build a bike trail on Dune Road from Shinnecock Inlet to Moriches Inlet. It could be modeled after the beautiful and popular bike trail on Jones Beach Island. Or, build it from Shinnecock Inlet or the Ponquogue Bridge to the Post Lane Bridge in Quogue. From there, bike riders could go north and turn east onto Montauk Highway, back to Hampton Bays to Dune Road, a big circle.
