Former President Bill Clinton is throwing his political and fund-raising weight behind the reelection campaign of U.S. Representative Tim Bishop.
The two-term Democratic president is expected to attend a fund-raising reception for Mr. Bishop tonight, June 3, at the Manhattan apartment of Robert F.X. Sillerman, according to the Associated Press. Mr. Sillerman was the chancellor of Southampton College when Mr. Bishop was the school’s provost.
Invites to the event are said to be running between $1,000 and $2,400, though the AP reports that the campaign is also holding a raffle in which donors can give just $25 for a chance to win an invite.
Representatives of the congressman’s campaign did not return several requests for comment on the former president’s support.
