Bonnie Sylvor Gurwicz

Bonnie Sylvor Gurwicz of Hampton Bays died on Saturday, May 25, at Southampton Hospital. She was 67.

Born on May 11, 1946, to Joseph and Dorothy Sylvor in the Bronx, she grew up in Eastchester, where she lived until attending Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

In 1995, she married John Gurwicz, who survives her.

Ms. Gurwicz pursued singing and acting as a young woman, performing at dinner theaters around the country. Several years later she joined her family’s business, Sylvor Co., in the display design and manufacturing industry, where she stayed for more than 18 years, later working for other display companies.

In 2002 she began another career as a life coach, which gave her great pleasure and made a difference in the countless lives she touched, survivors said. She became the executive vice president of the New York City chapter of the International Coach Federation, and co-producer/co-host of Life Coach TV, a prime time live cable show in Manhattan. Most recently she hosted an interview show on LTVEH, “Metamorphosis,” a series of more than 20 inspirational interviews with local people.

She has been described by friends and family as “an amazing, vibrant individual with a special spark of humor and energy that warmed all of our hearts.”

In addition to her husband, Ms. Gurwicz is survived by her sister Suzanne Sylvor and Lorraine Papacosta of East Hampton; and by Mr. Gurwicz’s family, Paula, Mindy, David, Samantha and Sloane.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 28, at Beth-El Cemetery in New Jersey. A memorial service is being planned for this month.

Memorial donations may be made to Lucia’s Angels, 10 Oak Street, Southampton, or at OCRF.org, the website of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

The original plan was to have the facility open by late 2023. But the lingering impact of the pandemic ... by Editorial Board
