Brett Edward Sanders of Southampton and Jacksonville, Florida, died at home on April 5, 2019, with his companion, Tonya Smith, by his side.

A graduate of Southampton High School, he studied architecture at the New York Institute of Technology. He worked at many distinguished East End architecture firms and opened his own construction company, Cooper Creek Construction. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands. He also enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a classic car enthusiast. In his spare time, he could often be found clamming, crabbing and fishing along Shinnecock Bay.

His perpetual smile, thunderous laugh, and storytelling abilities won him many friends, survivors said, adding that he will be remembered as a loving father, son and brother.

He is survived by his son, Cooper Sanders; his parents, Gary and Theresa Sanders of Southampton; siblings, Gary Sanders and Nicholas Sanders and family; Carla Sanders, Billie Sanders, Barbara Sanders; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

A funeral Mass is planned at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton on April 17 at 10 a.m.
