Brian Anthony Cowell Jr. of Southampton died on July 26, 2017. He was 36.

Mr. Cowell was born in Southampton to Brian Cowell Sr. and Madelyn Walker on September 6, 1980. He attended Southampton Public Schools, where he played varsity baseball and football, the latter being a true passion of his. He went on to study at Bridgton Academy and Springfield College in Connecticut.

He was baptized at the Community Baptist Church at a young age and was active in the church’s youth department when he was a teen. His favorite hobbies were playing video games and fishing.

Predeceased by his mother, Madelyn Walker, he is survived by his father, Brian Cowell Sr. of Selden; his step-mother, Cheryl Cowell of Selden; five siblings, Shenithia Cowell of Mastic, Sherri Cowell of Riverhead, Jarell Cowell of Selden, Jasmine Bresnihan of Selden, and Jamel Carr of Wheatley Heights; his grandmother, Bernice Cowell of North Carolina; godmother Maureen Dervin of Southampton; godfather Ron Hill of Southampton; five aunts, seven uncles, and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of December 12

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. He was pulled over after being observed speeding and failing to maintain his lane on Montauk Highway, police said.
