Brian F. McDonald of Southampton died on March 19. He was 58. Mr. McDonald was born in Albany in 1961.
Mr. McDonald graduated from Southampton College with a degree in marine biology. After graduating, he remained in Southampton and earned his living as a bayman, then started a masonry business, continuing what he had learned from his father. After many years of developing his trade skill, Mr. McDonald helped to build an orphanage in Africa and a church in Nicaragua.
His family would like to thank friends and family who visited Mr. McDonald at his home and in the hospital, as well as his sister Barbara, sister-in-law Joann and Cecilia for caring for Mr. McDonald in the last days of his life. The family also wanted to thank the doctors and nurses at Southampton Hospital for their kindness.
Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife of 32 years, Margaret; his children Matthew, Travis and Sean; his father William and step-mother Pauline; brothers, sisters and many friends. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on March 21 by Father Mike Vetrano. Burial followed at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Southampton.
