Obstetrician and gynecologist Brian McKenna will join Northwell Health’s Eastern Region as managing director of women’s health — marking a step in Peconic Bay Medical Center’s ongoing mission to advance women’s health services in the region and make high-quality care more accessible to residents throughout Suffolk County, according to a press release.
“Dr. McKenna brings decades of experience enhancing women’s health care, and we are thrilled to have him as a part of PBMC to help expand the women’s health services we are able to provide,” Dr. Amy Loeb, executive director of Peconic Bay Medical Center, said in a statement. “Dr. McKenna brings an understanding that women’s health care incorporates every facet of women’s health. Throughout the teenage years to menopause and beyond, Dr. McKenna is there to ensure that a patient’s needs are being met.”
In his new position, McKenna plans to expand labor and delivery facilities by bringing on additional personnel and clinicians, and grow advanced care for the region by recruiting experts in maternal-fetal medicine and reproductive endocrinology and infertility — which will complement the breast medicine and urogynecology programs already at Peconic Bay Medical Center.
The department will include fertility experts and menopause specialists, as well as mental health providers to address postpartum depression, anxiety disorders, stress, and more. In addition, McKenna and the Peconic Bay Medical Center team will run a county-wide educational series to inform women of all ages about health screenings and offer insight into medical care. The first event will be a Facebook Live Q&A with McKenna and Loeb on Thursday, June 30, at 2:30 p.m. on PBMC’s Facebook page.
“Peconic Bay Medical Center has a special team of talented physicians, and I’m excited to join Dr. Loeb in the effort to advance women’s health care and increase access to medical services throughout the North Fork and beyond,” McKenna said.
