Brian O’Keefe of Manorville, a retired golf pro at Rock Hill Country Club and Montauk Downs, died on December 20, 2020, after a three- year battle with colon cancer. He was 64.

He was very close with many elders from the Shinnecock Nation, and played golf with some for decades. In his final year, he spent time preparing golf clubs for the nurses that cared for him and many found a love for golf because of it.

Mr. O’Keefe was an extremely kind and gentle person who was always willing to help others whether it was with golf, air conditioning or lending an ear to listen without judgment, his family said. He adored his golden retriever rescues, Riley, Sandee, and finally got his bucket list puppy he named Divot.

His wife and soulmate, Esther, is an administrator in the Southampton School District.

He is survived by three stepchildren Quincy, Penelope and Julianna; his two sons, Ryan and Brandon; as well as many friends and family.
