Brian VanNostrand of Southampton died June 1 after struggling for several years with a degenerative bone disease. He was 44.
A skilled craftsman and construction foreman, Mr. VanNostrand endured many surgeries during the course of his illness. Survivors recalled this week that he was a wonderful provider who always put his family first. They added that he was known to many as a great friend whose door was always open to anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tara VanNostrand of Southampton; seven children, two brothers and one sister.
The family received visitors on June 3 at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, where a prayer service was conducted by Reverend Monsignor Edmond Trench. A private funeral and cremation followed on June 4.
