Brightening Spirits

2020 is nearing its end. This has been such a hard year on our community and country. So many have suffered by falling ill or losing their lives. This year, it seems that everyone I know has been touched in one way or another by this sickness.

As we close in on the shortest days of the year, where the nights are long and dark, there is still hope.

Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.

As we do every year, we decorate and light up our village downtown. I do the same at home, as well. Brightening our night brightens our spirits.

So, we are suffering with how we go about our lives. We are not able to see our friends and family as in normal times. We wear masks and clean all we touch. We are frustrated in how our days have changed.

However, if you have a job and food on your table, if you are healthy and have a place to sleep, if you have family and friends to share your burden, then you have more reason to hope for the future then many less fortunate.

As sure as these dark winter nights will pass, so will this affliction of our land. Be hopeful, for better days are ahead for us all.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and good health in the coming year.
