The Westhampton Beach Village Board last Thursday, August 4, hired a new village planner to replace the village’s former planner, who retired earlier this year.
Britton PD Bistrian of Amagansett was unanimously appointed by the board to serve as the village planner at an hourly rate of $160 to work with the Village Planning Board.
She replaces longtime planner Kyle Collins, who resigned in June after serving the village for 16 years.
“We are thrilled to have Britton join our village team to provide consultation services to our Planning Board and to support the Board of Trustees as needed,” Village Mayor Maria Moore said following the meeting.
Bistrian has a long land use resume. She runs her own consulting service, Britton PD Bistrian Land Use Solutions, is the office manager and a project coordinator for John Emptage Jr. General Contracting in Amagansett, and is on the East Hampton Town Contractors Licensing Review Board.
She is also an owner-investor in the Westhampton Beach Brewing Company in the Hampton Business District at Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton.
She said this week she was happy to take the position and has deep roots in the area. Her grandmother Eleanor Dix lived the majority of her life in Westhampton before dying recently at age 103, and her mother, Eleanor Dix Bistrian, has lived her entire life in Westhampton.
“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to serve the Village of Westhampton Beach,” she said. “They have all these great projects — like the downtown revitalization — that are shining examples of good planning. I look forward to helping the village with future projects.”
