Broadway Ready

Kudos to the Southampton School District. I was lucky enough to be at opening night to see “Beauty and the Beast,” starring the fifth grade. As a retired teacher and as a frequent Broadway theater audience member, I was amazed and thrilled to see this production.

The casts (there were two) rehearsed four afternoons a week for months. They were incredible. The star playing Belle sounded ready for Carnegie Hall or the opera. The settings and backdrops were perfect, as were the costumes. The tea cup (Chip) was inside a huge cup, and all you saw was her face moving on the side of the cup.

The fact that there were two casts, each performing twice over last weekend, proves that no child should be left behind. There was a large chorus. The faculty members who were about were helpful, smiley and encouraging.

I look forward to another show soon.

Thank you, Southampton schools.
