Bruce Jeffery Wright died peacefully on May 27 in Wilmington, North Carolina, surrounded by his family. He was 73.
Born and raised in East Quogue, he built a long and respected career as a stockbroker on Wall Street, weathering decades of change with focus and integrity. He brought quiet strength and sharp intellect to everything he did, his family said, with a brilliance fueled by his lifelong passion for reading.
He was a man of patience, tenderness, and deep thoughtfulness, they said. He had a rare gift for connecting with children and a profound love for animals, especially his cherished dogs — most recently Kia and Kona — who were never far from his side.
A lifelong person of faith, he was a member of the East Quogue United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, Edward (Amy), Elizabeth (Sisco), K.C. (Randy), Dorothy (Dave), George, and Margaret (Edward); 12 grandchildren; his siblings, Barbara (Dale), Sandy, and Keith. He was predeceased by his brother David.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Werner-Rothwell Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach, followed by a burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org.)
