Peconic Bay Medical Center Announces the Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants
Peconic Bay Medical Center has received a $10 million contribution from longtime donors Emilie and Michael Corey to support the development of the hospital’s new Center for Women and Infants. In honor of this milestone donation, the facility, which will be the first of its kind in the region, will be named the Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants. The facility is a significant aspect of the hospital’s $92 million expansion investment and is expected to open in 2025.
“Emilie and Michael Corey have been incredible partners in making our vision for the future a reality, and we are extremely grateful to them for helping to bring the Corey Center for Women and Infants into our community,” said Peconic Bay Medical Center Executive Director Amy Loeb. “Advancing women’s health in Eastern Suffolk County is a driving force in our expansion plans, and we are excited about the benefits the Center for Women and Infants will provide families throughout Eastern Suffolk County by making high-quality, patient-centered care closer to home. We are grateful to Emilie and Michael Corey for their continued support of the hospital and their steadfast dedication to improving the quality of life in this region.”
The Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants will feature new private rooms and make much-needed comprehensive women’s health services accessible to residents throughout eastern Suffolk County. It will create a state-of-the-art hospital within PBMC with a space dedicated to providing breast health services, urogynecology, and teleneonatology, with a goal to develop a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The new center will be designed to deliver exceptional, customized care with a dedicated entrance, featuring talented physicians that are already part of the team and more to come, bolstered by a growing ambulatory network. Patients will have specialized access to state-of-the-art operating rooms and labor and delivery services able to offer the highest caliber interventions for premature and ill infants.
“Supporting the growth of women’s health has always been a priority for us, and we are proud to be the flagship contributors helping to bring this much-needed facility to our community,” said Emilie and Michael Corey via a press release. “Peconic Bay Medical Center is our community hospital, and we are committed to helping make it the best it can be. Our latest gift addresses a concern we have had for a long while and will ensure that women in our community have access to the care they deserve. Amy Loeb and the hospital’s leadership have demonstrated an impressive track record of success, and a strong hospital means a strong community. We believe in their vision of what the hospital can become, and we are excited to see this project come to fruition.”
Since 2007, the Coreys have worked alongside Peconic Bay Medical Center to advance access to health care in eastern Suffolk County. This has included the establishment of the Pegasus House Palliative Care program to offer compassionate care and improve the quality of life for patients with chronic or life-limiting illnesses, and the Corey Critical Care Pavilion, which added a rooftop helipad and a 16-bed intensive and cardiac care unit to the hospital. Both initiatives have provided enhanced, life-saving services and have uplifted a region of Long Island that had traditionally been underserved without nearby access to specialized and emergency health care. In addition, this donation brings the Coreys’ lifetime support for PBMC to nearly $25 million.
Montauk Yacht Club Opens Following Multimillion-Dollar Renovation
Montauk Yacht Club, the 107-key Star Island seaside resort and marina, is open following a multimillion-dollar renovation and addition of the Ocean Club Montauk. The property is now under the management of Proper Hospitality within The Collective — a portfolio of independent, design-driven hotels.
Built in 1928, the resort enters a new chapter this year following extensive capital improvements. Now open is Ocean Club Montauk, a dining experience helmed by South African Chef Jarad McCarroll. Chef McCarroll’s St. Barth’s location inspires the menu that features fresh seafood, local produce, a raw bar, and selected dishes of the Braai — a traditional method of South African grilling. The 220-seat restaurant features an expansive open kitchen.
The hotel’s common spaces, outdoor facilities, rooms and suites have also been refreshed. An all-new, 24-hour gym offers strength training equipment, Woodway Treadmills, Octane ADX air bike, RO rowing machine, TRX equipment and weekly fitness and health classes.
The Market at Montauk Yacht Club features gourmet groceries, provisions, beverages, beer and wine from a variety of local, regional and national purveyors as well as snacks, sandwiches, salads and more from McCarroll. Adjacent to The Market is The Shop at Montauk Yacht Club — a boutique carrying skincare, fashion, jewelry and accessories.
Outdoors, the resort’s two updated pools — the adult-only Ocean Club Pool and the Great Lawn Pool for families — have both been updated. Plus there is a private beach, two tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, bocce courts, and in partnership with Privé Padel, two new Padel courts — the first in Montauk. Electric Moke cars are on hand to drop off and pick up guests should they wish to go surfing at local beaches or head into town, and Linus bikes are available for guests’ complimentary use.
The property’s marina has more than 200 slips that accommodate day boats and yachts. Montauk Yacht Club guests can use the property’s complimentary paddleboards, charter yachts for day excursions, or take a ride on the property’s house fleet of electric X-Shore vessels. In partnership with BLADE, guests can travel to the resort from New York City via plane or helicopter, land at Montauk Airport and transfer to Montauk Yacht Club via the house fleet.
