It is sad that after more than 25 years the Whalebone variety store in Noyac has closed its doors permanently [“The Whalebone, a Noyac Fixture, Will Close Its Doors After 40 Years,” 27east.com, April 27]. Linda Heine and her staff have welcomed year-round residents, part-timers and vacationers to the store since day one.
Unfortunately they, as have so many mom-and-pop stores, have become victims of online shopping.
I know change is inevitable, but I will miss the personal interaction you can only find in stores like the Whalebone. Another victim of technology.
