Car Fire On Sunrise Highway Causes Road Closure

According to New York State Police, a single-vehicle accident occurred shortly after 4:20 p.m. Friday evening resulting in a car fire and the closure of Sunrise Highway.

Police said the driver, who was headed westbound, crashed into the wood-lined area between exits 64 and 65 near East Quogue.

Police said the investigation was ongoing and Sunrise Highway remained closed as it continued.

No further details were available.
