Carmine Sybil (Yearwood) Farmer of Westhampton Beach and St. James, Barbados, West Indies, died on March 8, 2017, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados. She was 88.
Mrs. Farmer was born on March 28, 1928, in Barbados and moved to the United States in the 1970s. Mrs. Farmer worked at private homes in Westhampton Beach including the family of Mr. and Mrs. Sloan Colt, the Finch family and prior to her retirement was a caregiver for Joseph Hamilton Jackson.
As a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend, Mrs. Farmer touched the lives of many whether it be by a kind word or her charm and smile, survivors said. Mrs. Farmer was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westhampton Beach for more than 40 years. She was a part of the church’s Altar Guild and Women’s Group committees and also a member of St. Albans Parish Church in Weston, St. James, Barbados.
Mrs. Farmer is survived by her husband of 64 years, Cephas Farmer; and four of her five children and their spouses; Virla (Al) of Brooklyn, Evette (John) of Westhampton Beach, Richard of Weston, St. James, and Angela (June) of Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Penelope, Michael, Charice, Jessica, Sheree, Aaron, Ryan and Mya; and three great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Jordan, and Joshua; godchildren; a host of extended family members including the Farmer family, the Wilson family, the Cummins family, the Springer family and the Jones family of Barbados, Canada, England and the U.S., and friends. Mrs. Farmer was predeceased by a son, Ronald Farmer in 2017; a brother, Kenneth Yearwood; and a sister, Ruby Haynes.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at St. Albans Parish Church, Weston, St. James, Barbados. Burial will be held at St. James Cemetery following the services.
