Carol Ann (Ulrich) Wilson died in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 12. She was 94.
Ms. Wilson was born in Brooklyn but moved to Southampton as a teenager where she met “the love of her life” who became her husband of 66 years, Walter R. Wilson. He predeceased her in 2012.
Ms. Wilson graduated from Brooklyn Hospital School of Nursing with her registered nurse degree in 1943. When her children were young, she served as a private duty nurse but eventually went to work at Southampton Hospital as head nurse on what was then “Medical 2.” She always admonished her staff, “Treat your patients as if they were members of your own family.”
She later joined her husband in his appliance business and took up golf at the age of 50. A member of her foursome once remarked, “You sure do hit a long ball for a little broad.” She had four holes-in-one to her credit.
Survivors said she as a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a caring nurse who touched many lives.
She is survived by two children, Bruce of Tennessee and Heather of Pittsburgh.
A funeral Mass was held in Pittsburgh and her ashes will be interred at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Southampton this spring.
