Carolyn Y. Grisnik of Southampton died on July 10, 2017. She was 75.
The daughter of Emilio and Adele Yacamelli, she was born and grew up in Clairton, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, and was the oldest of two children. Her brother, Melvin, resides in North Huntington, Pennsylvania.
In 1965 she was married to Robert E. Grisnik, and after traveling across the country with Lt. Col. Grisnik’s military duties, they later settled in Southampton in 1972.
She was a school teacher and later also a religious education teacher at Sacred Heart Church. She was also active in many community activities and organizations, including the Southampton Lioness Club.
Ms. Grisnik was a caring mother to two children, Jason and Carla, but her true passion later in life was for her three grandchildren, Cooper, Hudson and Cru; she was known to all loved ones as simply “Nana.”
A devout Christian, she was active in several churches in town including Our Lady of Poland, the Church of St. Rosalie and the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
While working at Southrifty Drug, the drugstore she owned with her husband, she developed long-lasting relationships with many customers who would come in for medicine throughout the years. She would always greet everyone with a bright smile and some words of comfort.
She had a passion for cooking and baking and not just for her immediate family. Survivors said she was as generous as she was loving, a warm, compassionate and vibrant woman who always went out of her way to help others.
Visitation was at the O’Connell-Rothwell Funeral Home in Southampton on July 13.
