Carolyn Sleight of East Quogue died March 8, 2017, from complications of small cell lung cancer. She was 53.
Ms. Sleight lived a “beautiful life seasonally” with residences in East Quogue and Vero Beach, Florida, survivors said. Born in Great Neck, she graduated from Great Neck South High School and Pace University in New York City. She worked for JP Morgan and EF Hutton, setting up online networks to enable them to trade oil futures in the late 80s early 90s. Soon after, she began Primal Ware, a women’s swimsuit company with 10 percent of profits donated to the indigenous populations of Australia and Peru. She worked in area interior design shops across the Hamptons, most recently Samantha Drew in Westhampton.
Ms. Sleight was predeceased by her mother, Virginia Ritterbush. She is survived by her husband, James Brinley Sleight. She also leaves behind their cat, Phish.
Funeral arrangements were by Cox-Gifford Seawinds in Vero Beach and Fairchild and Sons in Manhasset. A funeral Mass took place at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Great Neck, followed by burial at Nassau Knowls Cemetery in Port Washington. Repast was at Sullivan’s Quay, Great Neck.
