Ross Lilley delivered the Takamine acoustic guitar to Mr. Bauman while he was recovering from his wounds at Boston Medical Center. “He truly loved the guitar and it made him smile, big time,” Mr. Lilley reported. The gift idea was thought up by musician Bryan Downey and purchased at Crossroads Music in Amagansett.

Celia Knight of Southampton died at her home on July 12. She was 100.

Born in Cutchogue to Josef and Michalina Zuhosky, she was one of 10 children. She married Stanley Knight in 1939 and, after living in Connecticut for a short time, they moved to Southampton and started farming and eventually opened up Knight’s Farm Stand. Mrs. Knight’s love of flowers produced a beautiful garden from which she cut and sold her bouquets at the farm stand along with corn and vegetables that she and her husband grew.

Survivors remember her love of dancing, especially the polka and the waltz. She attended all the dances at the local Polish Hall and once remarked to her son, “I never missed a dance with your daddy.”

In a story about her 100th birthday celebration published on October 29 in The Southampton Press, her granddaughter Celia Czelatka said, “She did everything for this family. She took care of this house and all of us. My grandparents hosted every holiday, and we were here every Sunday. She took care of us all.”

She and her husband, Stanley, were married 68 years before he died in 2006 at the age of 92.

She was also predeceased by a daughter, Ceil Czelatka. She is survived by two sons, Stanley and wife Ellie, and Peter and wife Lena; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister.

The family received friends at O’Connell Funeral Home on July 15. A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton on July 16, followed by burial at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978.
