Charles A. Rizzo
Charles A. Rizzo of Hampton Bays, known affectionately to family and friends as Charlie, died on July 16 at Brookhaven Memorial Medical Center. He was 86.
Born in New York City, Mr. Rizzo entered the U.S. Army in 1942 during World War II and was discharged in 1946. A recipient of the Purple Heart, he was a member of both American Legion Post 924 of Hampton Bays and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
For several years, he worked as a baker at the Bagel Nook in Riverhead.
He is survived by his son, Charles A. Rizzo Jr. and his wife Linda of New Hampshire; a daughter, Roseann Vera and her husband Eko of Hampton Bays; seven grandchildren, Charles R. Rizzo, Michael A. Rizzo, Joseph A. Rizzo, Anthony James Rizzo, Dominic Rizzo, Arianna Rizzo and Ricardo Vera. His wife, Virginia A. Rizzo (née Brescio) predeceased him.
Funeral services were held on July 19 at St. Rosalie’s Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays, where interment followed at Good Ground Cemetery.
