Charles Olsen Of Hampton Bays Dies January 19

Charles Olsen of Hampton Bays died at Peconic Bay Medical Center on January 19. He was 76 and a builder in Hampton Bays for many years before his retirement.

Mr. Olsen is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anne M. (Forsythe); his children, Anne Marie Evans and husband Tony of Westhampton, Sandra Downs-Keesling and husband Larry of Florida, Patricia J. Penta-Caridi and husband Anthony of South Carolina, Pamela J. Gauch of Virginia, and Christine Lasswell and husband Jeff of Colorado. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Olsen of Rhode Island; a sister, Doris Greggains and husband Bob of Florida; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held on January 22 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. During the evening hours the Southampton Elks Lodge #1574 conducted services followed by Masonic services conducted by Old Town Lodge #908 in Southampton. A short prayer service was held at the funeral home on January 23 before burial, with military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corps, at Calverton National Cemetery.

Ross School Expands Cellphone-Free Policy

Ross School has announced that beginning this fall, the campus will be smartphone-free during the academic day across all grade levels.
