Charlotte M. White of Water Mill died on November 22 with family and friends by her side. She was 82.
She had been battling serious medical issues for several years, refusing to give up — facing every day with a smile on her face, her family said.
Born June 3, 1942, to Carl and Rose Zeh of Water Mill, she was one of seven children. She met Bill White, and they married in 1964. They were married for 27 years.
Affectionately known as “Sarge,” she will be missed by the many friends she made at the VFW women’s bowling league, the North Sea Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary — where she was president for many years — her work at the Southampton Senior Center and her love of bingo.
She is survived by two children, Roseanne Donohue and Bill White Jr. (Lori and Christian); a grandson, Justin; and three great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
A wake was held on November 29 at O’Connell-Rothwell Funeral Home. There will be a private burial with a celebration of life in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the North Sea Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Barbara Barns Scholarship would be appreciated by the family.
