The season for the East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls indoor track team came to a close at the Section XI Championships, also known as the state qualifier, at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood on February 11.
Pierson senior Greylynn Guyer competed in the 3,000-meter race, in which she finished 10th out of 12 runners in 10:58.12. Pierson junior Sara O’Brien ran in the 600-meter race, in which she finished ninth out of 10 runners in 1:44.17.
East Hampton junior Vicky Chen competed in the pole vault, which was contested at St. Anthony’s High School on Friday. She cleared 8 feet 6 inches, and tied with Sachem North senior Marie Manolt for 10th place.
“While none of the girls had personal record performances, they made it into the state qualifier meet in what is a very competitive Suffolk County group of girls this year,” Bonac girls head coach Yani Cuesta said. “Now they will get to rest for a few weeks before the spring season starts.”
