The Retreat has announced that it has received a grant from Newsday Charities to support prevention education programs and a grant from the Ellen Hermanson Foundation for breast health services. Newsday Charities awarded The Retreat a $15,000 grant for the agency’s Prevention Education programs. These programs deliver school- and community-based workshops to educate the public on domestic/interpersonal violence and available resources. They also help children and teens build self-esteem while enabling them to identify and understand how to manage unhealthy situations and behaviors. The Parrish Art Museum has announced its inaugural Culture Club foray — a day trip to the Museum of Arts and Design in Manhattan — for teens in grades nine through 12.
