Longtime North Sea resident Clifford A. Johnson died on March 19 at Southampton Hospital. He was 93.
Born on February 23, 1916, in Yonkers, he was one of five children born to Helen and Nils Johnson.
He married Margaret “Dolly” O’Dell in 1939. After 42 years of marriage, Mrs. Johnson died, of cancer, in 1981. Four years later he married Susan Hunt of Southampton, who died in 2004, also of cancer.
Retired from a position at the Meadow Club in Southampton, he was a member of the North Sea Fire Department.
He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Maroldo of Calverton; a son, Clifford J. Johnson of Southampton; a stepdaughter, Marianne Keenaghan of Aquebogue; two granddaughters, Debra Sweda of Southampton and Lynn Kroll of Florida; two grandsons, Mark Johnson and Gregory Johnson, both of Southampton; and five great-grandchildren.
The family received friends on March 22 at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, where Elks and firematic services were conducted. A funeral service, officiated by the Reverend Peter Larsen, was held on March 23, also at Brockett. Interment followed at Southampton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the North Sea Fire Department Benevolent Fund, 149 Noyac Road, Southampton, N.Y. 11968, would be appreciated by the family.
