Friday evening, June 2, my husband and I were on our way to Hampton Bays to meet friends for dinner at 5:45 p.m. As we live on Fox Hollow Lane, we were overwhelmed by traffic as we tried to turn onto Moses Lane either to Hill Street or County Road 39.
It took us 20 minutes to reach the highway.
Because the trustees in their wisdom closed right-hand turns from Corrigan Street, Bishops Lane and Somerset Avenue, we have to bear the burden.
Why shouldn’t Moses Lane be closed? That is a right-hand turn to Hill Street. Making a select few better off smacks of elitism.
We are sorry we could not deduct what it cost us in time from the village taxes we just paid.
Let’s face it — there is no solution to this. We live here and enjoy the privileged environment that those who come to work here cannot afford.
Let’s have some community sympathy for those trying to get home to their families.
