The Rotary Club of Hampton Bays recently donated 16 “Stop the Bleed” kits for each lifeguard stand at Southampton Town Beaches. Stop the Bleed kits are designed to provide immediate care for severe bleeding before professional help arrives and enhances the ocean rescue team's first aid inventory. Southampton, New York Council #1967 of the Knights of Columbus was awarded the distinction of Star Council for the Columbian Year 2024-25, the international organization’s top honor for local councils. The Star Council Award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of growing membership, promoting Knights of Columbus insurance benefits, sponsoring Catholic faith formation programs and volunteering time through service-oriented activities. Council #1967 is in concert with two local parishes, Our Lady of Poland and the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, along with the regional Catholic elementary school, Our Lady of the Hamptons. Some of the other charities supported by the local council are Birthright of Peconic, Heart of the Hamptons. Committee members of East End Hospice’s summer fundraiser, Set Sail Into Summer, gathered to celebrate the event’s resounding success after raising $700,000 in support of adult bereavement counseling and Camp Good Grief scholarships for children who have lost a loved one. The celebration was hosted by Pauline Schmidt on July 28 at the Swordfish Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, honoring the dedicated volunteers and supporters whose efforts made the June 28 fundraiser such a meaningful achievement.
