Volunteer Jim Dreeben, in the truck, and bike donors Margaret Schwartz and Wendy Baum, Deborah Hickey, Lorry Werner, and Sigrid Meinel at the recent Bicycle Recycling Day, organzed by Neighbors in Support of Immigrants. The Southampton Colony Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently presented the Good Citizen Scholarship awards to local high schools seniors. Bridgehampton Museum held its second annual "Community Stars" event at Nathaniel Rogers House on Saturday. This year Dai Dayton, president of the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt and Charlie Marder, owner of Marders, were honored for their service to the community. Bridgehampton Museum held its second annual

Bridgehampton Museum held its second annual "Community Stars" event at Nathaniel Rogers House on Saturday. This year Dai Dayton, president of the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt and Charlie Marder, owner of Marders, were honored for their service to the community. Bridgehampton Museum President Andrea Madaio and Executive Director Connor Flanagan introduced the honorees to the guests. Paige Patterson and Lydia Willie were among those attended the event. What can be done about the infestation of the southern pine beetle in Suffolk County and elsewhere in the Northeast, where the beetle’s habitat has now been extended because of climate change? There were recommendations at recent conferences on the southern pine beetle issue, one at LTV, the public access television station in Wainscott, as part of its “Pine Protection Project,” and another at the Eastern Campus of Suffolk County Community College, convened by Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine. People used to get lost. Desperate, late or enjoying the new sights, strangers would turn off Route 27. They’d wind through Wainscott and cross unknowingly into Sagg. Verse vs. Versus

A couple of friends and I went out for Cuban food, and we decided to share our entrees. One friend chose the camarones enchilados, described on the menu as shrimp in a spicy creole sauce with wine. It was delicious — except the chef left the tail shells on the camarones. Ugh! I had to stick my fingers into the spicy creole sauce with wine, pick up the tail and bite into the shrimp in such a way as to pull all the meat out of the shell. Patrons stood in the new post office and marveled at the old boxes. New, old boxes, new combos, some get keys. The Sagaponack Post Office has returned to its original location on Main Street, and the oldest customers approach with cautious zeal.
