The Montauk Library and the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society are joining forces to present a "History Hike on Fort Pond Bay" on Saturday, October 18, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. During the scenic hike, participants will learn about the history of Fort Pond Bay, including early Indigenous sites, where the Amistad landed, Montauk's first fishing village and deep water port, the Long Island Rail Road's development of the area, and military occupation during World War I and World War II.
