Calling All Bakers!
The Springs Food Pantry, located at 5 Old Stone Highway in East Hampton, will host a presentation about Flour Power, a community-based program that provides home-baked bread to various food pantries on the East End, on Monday, October 2, at 6 p.m. All bakers (and interested nonbakers) are invited to the informal presentation.

High Tea at Cormaria
Cormaria Retreat House will host an Afternoon High Tea on Thursday, October 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. Reservations may be made starting September 29. Those attending may enjoy assorted tea sandwiches and savories, freshly baked scones, and assorted pastries and sweets served with a selection of herbal teas, while listening to classical music.

Masonic Music Sessions
September 30 brings The Roses Grove Band to the Masonic Temple. The show begins at 8 p.m. and admission is $20. Tickets may be purchased at the door and online at masonicmusicseries.com.
The Jazz Jam Session at the Inner Sanctum of the Masonic Temple continues on Tuesday, October 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $20. The Inner Sanctum in Wamponamon Lodge is above the Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum at 200 Main Street. There is parking at the rear of the building.

Library’s Great Give Back
The John Jermain Memorial Library will participate in the Public Libraries of New York State’s The Great Give Back on Saturday, October 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. Its effort will focus on collecting items for lunch boxes. Patrons may drop items in bins located at the library. Items needed include unexpired nonperishable canned/jarred food including peanut butter, beans, tuna, canned fruits and vegetables, coffee, tea, etc. (please, no soups, stuffing, cranberry sauce or pumpkin), baby supplies, such as diapers, baby wipes; new unopened personal essentials such as toothpaste, deodorant, and soap.
One hour of community service is available to teens who wish to help out.

Latin Dance Night

Ride & Wine for i-tri Girls
The annual Ride & Wine event to benefit i-tri girls is set for Saturday, September 30. Starting out at Channing Daughters winery on Scuttle Hole Road, cyclists have a choice of a 10- or 30-mile route, before returning to the winery for a winetasting and lunch. Tickets are also available for the winetasting only. The cost is $175. The rain date is Saturday, October 7.

Witness Walk
The Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center has rescheduled its inaugural Witness Walk for Saturday, October 14. The center, a historically Black, community-based organization dedicated to serving marginalized East End children and families, is collaborating with The Witness Project of Long Island to extend solidarity to those who have triumphed over cancer or continue to battle it.
Registration is at 8 a.m. and the 5K walk begins at 9:30 a.m. Walkers will proceed south on Bridge-Sag Harbor Turnpike, west onto Main Street, to the Bridgehampton Fire Department, and return to the center. Participants will then have lunch and be inspired by community members offering their support and inspiration.

New Date for Potters Market
The Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons set a new date (the original canceled because of the weather) for its Potters Market. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8 on the grounds of the Water Mill Museum.
Handmade pottery and gifts will be available for sale.

Quilt Winner To Be Announced
The Water Mill Museum will hold its annual meeting and quilt raffle drawing, open to the public, on Tuesday, October 10, at 4 p.m. The meeting is an opportunity for the museum’s board to report to the public about the events and results from the season’s business, before it closes for winter. The winning ticket for the quilt up for grabs will be drawn at 4 p.m.
Also, the last show of the Water Mill Museum’s 2023 season is Paintings and Sculpture by Friends and Family. Artists include Eva Siefert, Anne Siefert, Jackie Siefert Cushing, Remy Siefert Cushing, Valta Us and Chris Siefert. The show opens September 28.

Pink Tree Lighting Set
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to draw attention to it, the Southampton Chamber of Commerce will host the annual pink tree lighting on the chamber’s front lawn on Monday, October 2, at 6:30 p.m.
Let Freedom Read!
Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. The event, established in 1982, was in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. This year it will take place October 1 to 7. Join members of the Rogers Memorial Library in the celebration with library staff on Wednesday, October 4, at 1 p.m. as they read excerpts from some of their favorite banned books, old and new, and discuss some of the reasons for the challenges, some of which are quite surprising. There will be displays on view, and light refreshments will be served.

QUOGUE
See the Birds
The Eastern Long Island Audubon Society will lead a bird walk at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge on Sunday, October 1, at 8:30 a.m. The Refuge is a popular stopping off point for south-bound songbirds, and there is a good chance to spot fall warblers and other migratory birds. Binoculars are a necessity.

Library Highlights
Now through November 1, Quogue Library will be collecting donations as part of The Great Give Back, an annual day of service where public libraries help out a foundation or charity. This year, Quogue Library will be assisting the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. We will be collecting dry pet food, pet supplies, blankets, and pet toy donations (no unsealed food or food requiring refrigeration and no fitted sheets) through the end of October in a donation box in the front of the library. The shelter will provide a QR donation code, as well as their Amazon wish list for donations.
As part of the library’s Author Talks, meet local author and poet Jim Gover for a reading from his debut book, “Feel My Heart, a Poetry Collection” on Saturday, September 30, from 3 to 4 pm.

Zorbo 5K This Saturday
Knights of Columbus Joseph Slomski Council #7423, headquartered at the Immaculate Conception Church in Westhampton, will hold its 5K run/walk in Westhampton Beach on Saturday, September 30, honoring Vin Zorbo, known to several generations as “Uncle Vin,” a man who loved the surf and who enjoyed passing on that love, as well as positive thoughts on how to live one’s life, to members of the younger generation with whom he came in touch, noted a promotional item. The race honors Vin’s legacy and has become an important fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus, enabling it to expand its outreach programs including support of veterans and first responders, high school scholarships, support of the food pantry, Angela’s House, Coats for Kids, Eastern Long Island Surf Riders Association, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Maureen’s Haven, and more.

Fall Festival Rescheduled
The Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Festival and Sidewalk Sale has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be food tents, music, a beer garden and a kids area. Main Street will be closed to traffic and parking.

The Southampton Youth Bureau is currently accepting new member registrations for their “Teen Views” program. Participants will learn how to interview, create creditable stories, film and edit video, and produce content for television and other media. The Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt will guide a Full Harvest Super Moon Hike on Saturday, September 30, at 7:30 p.m. at South Fork Natural History Museum. This full moon’s name is attributed to Native Americans because it marked when corn was to be harvested. At the peak of harvest, farmers can work late into the night by the light of this moon.
